Rochester Irish Famine Monument

One million Irish men, women, and children suffered greatly at the hand of tyranny during the Great Famine of 1845-1851.  The Ancient Order of Hibernians has erected a monument at St. John Fisher College in memory of those who perished in this tragic event.  The statue is made of beautiful black marble and captures the sentiment of all Irishmen affected by the famine.  Presently, the monument is surrounded on three sides with tablets of contributors who helped to erect it.  The A.O.H. is now seeking families / individuals to have their names engraved and set with the forth and final tablet to the monument.

The name(s) can be up to 34 characters long and should contain family or friends names of the contributor's choice.  Examples include:

William and Molly Lawler and Family
Gregg Redmond esq.
The Dowdell and Kerwin Families

The cost of a line is $100 and will remain forever in the memory of those loved ones affected by the famine.  Time and space is limited as the tablet can hold only 38 lines of contributors.

This monument is a timeless way to honor those men, women, and children
"whose only crime was being hungry".
