Are you:

  • A practicing Catholic?
  • Irish, by either birth or descent?
  • A male of at least 16 years of age?

If you answered "yes" to all three, you may be interested in the Ancient Order of Hibernians in America. Besides being the oldest Catholic, lay organization in the country, the "A.O.H." is the largest Irish, fraternal organization in the world.

The A.O.H. originated in Ireland during the dreaded days of the "Penal Code" imposed by Oliver Cromwell. Our organization began by protecting the lives of Ireland’s priests - ensuring the preservation of our Faith. This tradition was continued by Irish immigrants as they faced the hardships of assimilating to the then Protestant culture of early America.

Today, the A.O.H. is still promoting the Catholic faith and the culture of Ireland. As well as thriving on the National and State levels, the A.O.H. is alive and well here in Rochester.

American men, 16 years of age or older who are practicing Catholics of Irish birth or descent are eligible for admission into The Ancient Order of Hibernians in America, Inc.
