The Genesee Gateway doesn't impose many requirements for web sites hosted on
our servers. But we do ask you keep the following requirements in mind:
- Sites Must Pay Appropriate Annual Fees
The Genesee Gateway now charges a fee for hosting web sites. These
fees are detailed on the What Does It Cost
page. For new sites, payment of the fee is required before the site is
set up. For existing sites, an invoice will be generated annually.
- No Attribution is required
We no longer require any attribution to the Genesee Gateway or anyone else
on your site. If you have any, especially if they do not reference the Genesee
Gateway, please remove it!
- All Sites Must Complete and Return our Release Form
To protect GGW from the slings and arrows of outrageous litigation, we
require that all web sites hosted on our server have a
Release Form filed with us. The purpose of the form is to place
responsibility on you and your organization for all content within your site.
It also limits damages you can claim against GGW if you would ever consider
such a silly thing.
This form must be completed by someone directly connected with the
organization. Volunteers doing web sites on behalf of
organizations must get the organizations to complete and return the form to
us.
Completing and returning the form is a requirement. If you
don't after a reasonable period of time, GGW reserves the right to disable
your web site until we receive the form.
- For-Profit Commercial Financial Transactions Are Not Allowed
We don't allow for-profit financial transactions to occur on our web site.
Financial transactions that are done as part of a non-profit organization's
normal business are allowed. Since The Genesee Gateway currently doesn't
operate a secure "commerce server," you and your organization agree to accept
any risk and loss from transactions occurring on the server.
- (Hopefully) Obvious Restrictions
- Unless you have requested and received permission, you and your
organization are not allowed to represent that The Genesee Gateway or
Rochester Free-Net, Inc. sponsors, endorses, or supports your web site's
content.
- The Genesee Gateway reserves the right to remove or edit content that
could compromise system security or that otherwise could adversely affects
the system's stability or security.
