This page is for people who already have a domain name, registered through some source other than The Genesee Gateway.  If you need to register a new domain name, note it on step 3.

  • Transfer of Control Over Domain Name's Resolution

Every domain name has to point to at least two name servers in order to work.  We highly recommend that all domain names for sites on our server be handled by our own name servers.  The name server you should use depends on which server your web site is on.

Sites currently being added to our servers will use:

Hosted on
a Linux Server
primary
name server:
ns21.rfnweb.com (66.209.70.152)
secondary
name server:
ns22.rfnweb.com (66.209.70.153)

We also ask that you assign the domain's Technical Contact to be Michael Slade (mslade1@rochester.rr.com).  This will allow us to make technical changes to your domain name if such becomes necessary.  Please write to Michael Slade if you have questions about this.

Some organizations have special requirements and need to retain control over how their domain name is resolved.  For situations like this, please contact Michael Slade (mslade1@rochester.rr.com), describing your situation.

  • Transfer of Domain Name's Registrar

Please contact us at domains@ggw.org  to arrange for this.  He can explain what needs to be done. We need to initiate the transfer request. For domain names with a TLD of .org, please supply us with the required Authorization Key that you need to obtain from the current registrar..

  • Additional Domain names.

The Genesee Gateway includes the registration fee in the annual fee. Additional domain names that point to the same site costs  $15/year.   You might, for instance want the .net name as well as the .org name if it is available.

Back to step 2.
