Volunteer Opportunities:

Please check which of the following areas you are interested in.

Information Gathering and Web Page Development

Working with our Information Services Committee, you'll be able to help us recruit new organizations to go online, gather information for web page development, and/or format and maintain pages for organizations who join us online. This is a great opportunity to build a web page portfolio if you want to pursue web page development professionally, as well as making contacts in the local area!

It would be helpful to know what experience you have in Web Page Development.
a.)  I have no experience but want to learn.
b.)   I have some experience.
c.)   I have done a lot of Web Page design and formatting.

If you checked either b or c above, please enter a Web page address (URL) in which you participated in the development:

Fundraising, Grant Research & Opportunities, and Underwriting

Rochester Free-Net, Inc., is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation dependent on individual contributions, grants to non-profit organizations, and sponsorship from area businesses who would like to support us in return for online acknowledgment. We need individuals to help us raise funds from individuals as well as consultation with professional fundraisers and grant writers.

Technical Services

The Genesee Gateway operates under Windows NT utilizing IIS. We need volunteers to help administer the server as well as those who can assist us in creating new applications and services.

Public/Media Relations & Marketing

To better promote ourselves, GGW relies on a team of volunteers to help explore how to best position ourselves from a marketing perspective as well as creating and disseminating information for the public at large and the media. Experienced marketing and public relations volunteers are especially needed!

Education & Outreach

GGW maintains education and training programs for our volunteers, the community at large, and the organizations we serve. Our outreach programs need volunteers to teach classes, develop written educational material, and help answer questions from the public about how to use our service.

Volunteer Group

The Volunteer Group administers our volunteers and keeps them motivated, monitors their activities on behalf of the organization, and helps match volunteers to projects awaiting completion. This group needs self-motivated people to keep our volunteers active and informed about our organization.

Forum Hosts

This fall, GGW will introduce several interactive web-based forums that will allow the public to communicate back and forth on topics that are of local interest. We need people to help motivate participation by bringing up new topics, ensuring that the messages are within our acceptable use policy, and help keep discussions moving.

Content Corps

The Content Corps is an exciting new area for GGW - Individuals who have an interest or expertise on different topics will be sought to prepare articles for our online magazine. We need columnists, budding authors, and journalists to bring a quality online magazine to our users.

Newsletter Group

The Newsletter Group is made up of volunteers who are experienced in creating and assembling newsletters for our volunteers, information providers, and our users. We need writers, editors, and web page developers who can generate online versions of our published material.

GGW/RFN Operations

Volunteers who can help make copies, fold brochures, assemble information packages, track correspondence, and the other essential office-oriented tasks are needed. If you work for a company that can provide us with any of these services, we can provide special recognition!

GGW Advisory Group

We realize in these busy times it is not always possible for a volunteer to commit to assisting us on a regular basis. But if you can help us make contact with others who can, can lend your expertise on any of these areas on an occasional basis, or can help promote us to your friends and business associates, please consider joining our Advisory Group.
