Impacts on sprawl

Connecting to your Community

Democracy is measured not by its leaders doing extraordinary things, but by

its citizens doing ordinary things extraordinarily well."

- John Gardner

As citizens it is important that we keep a breast of what is happening in our community.  What are our representatives doing to address community development issues?  Some communities are very progressive in how they are addressing these issues others are not.  What is your community doing? Are they being thoughtful and organized?  Is there a plan?  Does the plan consider the impact on their neighbors and the region?  Are there others in my community trying to address these issues?

Tools for our local leaders and citizens are available on the sprawl links page in addition to the Local Government and the Citizen Planner Institute.  Then there's the Smart Growth Matchmaker Program that tries to match local officials with developers that can implement smart growth type projects.  Common Good Planning Center strives to engage citizens and organizations in a common quest to establish the Genesee/Finger Lakes Region as one of the "top ten" in the nation for economic vibrancy, ecological integrity, and quality of life for all. Be part of the process!

Development in our community is effected by what happens on many levels of government.  Impacts on sprawl looks at some projects in our region and some of the effects these projects may have on our towns and region.  Below is a link to many of our municipalities web sites and neighborhood groups in the area.

(We do not have all of the towns and community groups yet, and some of the links may not be the official town site, we will continue to identify the correct hyperlink.  If we are missing your community or community group, please feel free to share the information.  You can send to bcherin@juno.com - Brad - Thank you)
